The setting of Exodus begins in the desert of Egypt where God's chosen people, the Israelites, are held as slaves by pharaoh and the Egyptians. They experience forced labor until Moses, a messenger from God, challenges Pharaoh to release God's chosen or suffer God's wrath. Pharaoh eventually allows the Isrealites to leave, but only after the Passover where all the firstborn died, including Pharaoh's son.
God saves Moses and the Isrealites by parting the Red Sea so they can escape from Pharaoh and the Egyptians. The waters later close on the Egyptians, killing them all.
God meets Moses on MT Sinai to give Him the 10 Commandments as a guide for Holy living.
